Driving and racing to the next red light so I can read the entire newsletter! Once again, your writing transports me to another time and space. I hear you, what you write so vulnerably about makes sense to me, and I watch you continue to be in service to your family! Having your own separate routine and interests are awe inspiring to watch as you do it all with determination and grace!

Thank you for having me on this issue. The collaboration was so fun for me!

Such a sweet thing to read! Thank you for sharing. Motherhood is hard sometimes but also very rewarding... I've loved all of it, even through the hardest times. Mine are both grown now and I'm a Mimi of two...

How beautifully written. Thank you for being so vulnerable, as I really resonated with this sentiment. It’s difficult to express and you did such a fantastic job.

I had a similar experience of early motherhood—consumed with it, happily (most of the time!) And then after a year or so I felt stifled, lost, aching for my former self. Daycare and then preschool allowed me the time to rediscover my old self, and meet a new self. I feel like I’m constantly pulled between that autonomous self and my mothering self, and I’m making peace with the fact that one will be tended to more than the other in each season. I remind myself how important it is to me for my kids to see me engaged with my interests, my hobbies, my creativity, my individual joy. I want them to know the soul of me, not just the mothering me. Thank you for these reminders, Amelia 💛

I’m so comforted to hear you had a similar experience. I love the idea of meeting a *new self*. It’s soo true. I also feel how important it is to nurture both parts of ourselves and how healthy it is for our kids to see us experience joy outside of family life. I’m so grateful to have you on this journey with us! XO

I am so proud of you and grateful to be on the life journey with you. You are truly an inspiration 🩷 I am feeling lots of the same sentiments but not quite at the same stage of growth yet. Recently went back to regular yoga classes and that’s been a great starting point for me to just be “Halle” again.

And how can I sign off without a shoutout to the OG! Donna!!! Always love hearing her thoughtful insights. I loved reading the radio story!!

Hals! Your note made my weekend. Thank you! I loved hearing how the essay resonated and that you’re on your own journey to reconnect with “Halle.” It’s such an important process and one I wish I’d embraced sooner.

The radio story is such a good one! I remember that morning soo well! Such a fun, sweet memory. XO

Amelia I feel so proud of you reading this. Teared up a few times. What growth and change you are reflecting on and what an example to model for your kids! I love that you are showing them the importance of finding balance, taking care of yourself, and pivoting when something isn’t working. ❤️❤️
