Thinking about you, Amelia and remembering our classic beach day in Maine. The beaches in Maine are really my kind of beach…cool and breezy! One feature about the newsletter I love is getting to know so many other moms in this community. Loved seeing a recent photo of Tricia and her girls! Look forward to reading along on the next issue! Speedy Recovery!
Great issue! I loved all the linked recommendations as well as the book suggestions. I'm so sorry to hear about your concussion, Amelia! I hope your recovery continues to go smoothly.
My kids are 3.5 and 1.5. We do first round sunscreen naked at home and bring them to the beach in their swimsuits and sun shirts. I'm lucky that I no longer need diapers or bottles so our packing has gotten much lighter. I only bring travel size sunscreens because since we walk the ounces matter to me.
My beach bags:
Large canvas backpack from H&M with a zipped bottom cooler compartment, full of frozen water bottles, an entire pack of yogurt tubes (frozen) and a Coke Zero for me, Evian water spray for keeping cool.
Top compartment: Isdin water fusion liquid SPF for me, Isdin mineral spray for the kids, La petite rose spf for everyone's face since it smells nice, ball caps and sunglasses for everyone, water shoes for everyone since the beach is rocks not sand. Bag of gluten free pretzels. An Indestructibles storybook for the baby and a Spiderman for big brother. If we're with aunties and uncles and I actually can sit down I bring my kindle with its shopbibliophile "Smut" cover.
We keep a zipped mesh laundry bag full of shovels, buckets and watering cans we bring sometimes but honestly the kids don't need any of the toys to play happily.
We line the double stroller with towels and bring pajamas for the kids to change into at the end of the day, that lets us shower them at the beach and put them to sleep on the walk home.
Our beach club has food so we usually order the kids fries and watermelon or maybe a chicken quinoa bowl since that's big enough for 3 of us. If we go anywhere else I pack sandwiches.

I wear top layers from coolibar so if I don't have time to reapply my own SPF I don't burn to a crisp, and I wear this necklace to the beach in place of my jewelry https://www.zara.com/us/en/seahorse-beaded-necklace-p07243632.html
